10 DTS students, representing 5 different countries, USA, Brazil, South Africa, Germany, and Finland. So many different cultures but in this first week I can already tell you it feels like a family. We've had our difficulties with the language barriers but we are helping each other out with translation. Last Sunday, the 1st, officially started our DTS journey. Even during orientation week I have learned things that I've really never done before or truly tried everyday. Some awkward moments between God and I but this is why I'm here, to build my relationship with God so much more than it has been. Later on in the week we had a tour of all the homes that Ten Thousand Homes has built and it was awesome just to hear the stories that built the homes. It was the stories of hopelessness of a family to gaining visions for their future, it was the children not knowing the presence of love to being overflowed with love and joy. Ten Thousand Homes not just built them a solid home but to be part of a family. So out of all the DTS programs all over the world why would I choose to come back to TTH? Because it was friendships I created during my SOS, and family I left to come back home to the states. During the time visiting the homes we also stopped at the Dwaleni feeding and there my heart started racing! Children running around, screaming, going up and down the slide, fighting over who's next on the swing, faces and clothes smudged in red dirt, feeling a tug on your shorts looking down and gazing into a big smile and dark brown eyes. THIS is my home. Growing up I've been blessed with a family that loves but I look at these children and think why haven't some of these kids deserved that same kind of love? But God has given me that passion for the orphaned and vulnerable children and my future is with them BUT until then I'm here getting my training from God first so that I may become a better follower, to listen and obey. This new week is no more orientation but fully diving into the word. Week 1 of DTS is about praise and worship as a lifestyle.
Oh! And for those who are wondering! Nontobeko and the family are doing well and so excited to have me back!
Please continue to pray for me as we are now starting this ride, that I'm able to open my heart to the team and God. Pray that I'm able to learn new things and use them! Pray pray pray! Thank you guys so much for following!
Ube nelusuku loluhle! (Have a good day)
