I hear the wedding bells!!
An update to catch you all up on! Last time I shared in the previous blog I asked for prayers in the part two of negotiations on July 16 about figuring out a wedding date and where.
Well, all went well! Amazing actually.
A couple days before the 16th Nontobeko and I met up with my Pastor, the one leading the Harrington crew, and his wife to talk about what this next part of negotiations could look like. And to be honest it was quite scary. Sthembiso shared personal experience and tradition that typically the brides family has the full authority to choose where and when the wedding will be. Like stories of a wedding taking place right on the family property, with a tent. No disrespect but that did not fill me with excitement. Nontobeko and I began to share our desires for our wedding to our Pastor so that by the 16th he could present this option to the Mokoena family.
Pulling up to the house wasn't as nearly daunting as the first part of negotiations but everyone still holding a respectable manor. We had come up with multiple dates for the wedding so if one wasn't approved we had other options. For the Harringtons we wanted to ask permission to take responsibility of the wedding and present a date for the special day. Our first option was October 29th at the Umbali Wedding Venue. Nontobeko and I really wanted that. Just like the first time Mzwandile and I sat in our car while the Harringtons entered the house to begin once again negotiating. To my surprise after about 30 minutes it was done and we were blessed with October 29!
75 more days!!
We have been incredibly excited and to our surprise things have been coming together quite nicely. Umbali is a beautiful space hidden by the African bush and rolling hills of Nelspruit. We will be having a traditional white wedding and spicing up the reception with Zulu theme and attire. Right and dancing of course.
Please keep us in your prayers as the countdown has begun! Pray for protection and guidance, financial support and also a big thing as soon after the wedding Nontobeko will begin her process for a passport and visa to come to America! We plan on visiting the Mitten in the month of December. Pray for the right people holding her papers and a fast process. These are big desires and God has been so good to us!
Thank you for your support and excitement. Join us in this countdown as we begin our new adventure!
