YWAM Kruger DTS
Such a handsome group isn't it? Yup. That's the family. In that group you have close to half of the world! You've got Merica in there, Brasil, Finland, Germany, South Africa, oh and even Australia. Well alright not half of the world but enough countries and cultures to make all the sense to have this group be punching and yelling at each other within just a week. Am I right?
Very Happy to say though, that didn't happen! Through the 5 months of YWAM DTS God had put unity in our family, He had put love in our family, He had put understanding, respect, transparency, and the list could go on and on. Not going to lie though the first couple weeks in September were rough getting through the language barriers, personalities, etc. but God had special plans for this group of world changers.
It didn't start out being called a family. God had to really work in us individually. Changing our emotions, attitudes, personality, beliefs, how we see things. But each time we opened up to God and to the team we really began to become a crazy family. We all took the opportunities to go deeper with our Father and never looked back.
Deep into the lecture phase we began to hear the word family, replacing team, come up more often. With outreach creeping up we could start to see what God wanted us to resemble.
Family
Right away, bumping into outreach God put us to work with our focus. In Swaziland, we were to bring family into the places of lost hope, emptiness and brokenness, fatherless and motherless.
(I will go deeper into stories in later updates)
Our second leg of outreach, Uganda brought a new taste to family. God had worked to put us with these homes that understood what family meant long ago. They are called core families, and some of these homes were filled with 15, 25, 50+ children!! In Uganda they believe that every child deserves a family, no one is left alone. And we could really see that. The parents would take in some of these children from broken homes, death of parents. Some are from relatives, some not but we saw the love and importance of Family. We learned many things and were in awe of what God was doing in and through these families.
(Again deeper stories will follow in later updates)
And some of the best memories came during the holiday season!
(My birthday, Christmas, and New Years)
We all had the struggle of being home sick during the Christmas season but we all had each other and we did whatever we could to cheer up some one that was down.
I
loved every minute with these people and I can say I have never been so
close to a group of people like these. They are my brothers and sisters
in Christ and together we grew so close. It became so easy to live as family. But the glory goes all to God.
For creating all the diversity in this world, all the languages but yet
He is able to bring these 10 young adults from the different corners of
the world and unite together as one body. God is good?! All the time! All the time?! God is good!
